Motor mechanics
A motor mechanic is a broad title in the automotive industry. A motor mechanic works on vehicles of all shapes, sizes and engines. These mechanics will work to repair and maintain vehicles through the help of their system’s diagnostics. Motor mechanics must be knowledgeable on the different systems used in different vehicles and should be capable of using each of these systems. Their job requires many different skills in order for them to perform the appropriate maintenance on the relative vehicles.

Diesel mechanics
The job of a diesel mechanic is more specified than that of a motor mechanic. The diesel mechanic does not just work on any engine, but rather specialises in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining diesel vehicles. The automotive industry is changing. Technology is upgrading and becoming more specified to each vehicle. Mechanics often choose to specify in a field rather than continuing as a motor mechanic due to these specified upgrades. Specialising in diesel engines narrows their focus and allows them to conduct detailed assessments on vehicles.
